There has been a lot of talk online about the Gucci Mane mixtape called “Guccitendo.” Originally, his producer Zaytoven had stated that the mixtape “Guccitendo” will be released as soon as Gucci gets out of jail. We all know that when Radric was released, he dropped the “Writing On The Wall” mixtape first thing. If you frequently visit mixtape websites, you may have seen a mixtape called “Guccitendo” by Gucci Mane. Although it contains songs by Gucci Mane, it is not an official tape and has no affiliation with So Icey Entertainment. A lot of people get tricked into thinking that it’s a real tape.
Take the time to do a little bit of critical thinking before you believe that every new tape is legitimate. Gucci Mane drops a lot of tapes, but some of them may be difficult to distinguish real from fake. How can you tell if a mixtape is authentic? One clue would be to take a look at whether the tape features a DJ that Gucci Mane works with (or has worked with). If someone like DJ Holiday, DJ Scream, DJ Rell, or DJ Drama is behind the tape, you know that it’s an original. If you see some new DJ that has questionable “drops” and is someone that you’ve never seen Gucc Mane work with before, you should do a little bit of research.
Whenever Gucci releases a new tape, you can bet that the hip hop blogs will know about it. In other words, the streets will know about it and the internet will have it on lock down. Websites like DatPiff have all of his original tapes, but also contain a lot of what are considered “spam” tapes. These “spam” type tapes are basically Gucci Mane song compilations put together by a random person in order to get some self-promotion or to promote their website. Most people get duped into thinking that the tapes are real when they see a cover that looks dope.
Despite the fact that the phony Guccitendo mixtape featured on some websites has a quality lineup of tracks, you can probably hear the distorted quality on some of the tracks. The tape is a compilation that was put together by a random DJ, who is not affiliated with Gucci Mane. Seeing tapes like this can really be confusing for most people since they have heard rumors for a long time that an official tape with this title was supposed to be released.
Rumor was that the official tape was going to be released on March 12, 2009. Most Gucci fans know that this never happened. Instead, he has released the following mixtapes since he has been released from jail: “Writing On The Wall,” “The Movie: Part 2,” “Burrprint 3D: The Movie,” “BRRRussia,” “Great BRRitain,” and “Guccimerica.” So what will ever become of the concept of the official Guccitendo mixtape? Nobody really knows except Gucci. It would be some more heatrock for the streets if he decided to do it. In the meantime, while you’re waiting for his next tape, be sure to mark your calendars for December 8th (BRRRR) for his upcoming album, “The State vs. Radric Davis.”
