DJ Drama catches up with Gucci Mane and talks to him about when he got locked up. He was released from jail in 2009 and Dram sat down with him to ask him questions about his mixtapes, his appeal, and what the inmates thought of him. He says that while he was locked up he did “a lot of reading” as well as freestyling for the inmates and they liked it. In case you don’t already know, DJ Drama does a lot of mixtapes with Gucci and is easily one of the hottest DJ’s in the game right now.

This interview also discusses the fact that Gucci Mane is a fan favorite and has a huge street buzz. He’s taking over and he talks about working to gain more fans and working to open up on the mainstream market. He gets tons of support in Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, and Pittsburgh because they are some of the most supportive cities for Gucci Mane’s music. Pittsburgh even has a saying “that’s Gucci” for his music. What wasn’t mentioned in the interview is the fact that Washington DC also has a huge Gucci Mane following, those folks go absolutely bananas for his concerts and interviews.

Gucci let’s the people know that he’s been talking to Plies, Rick Ross, Nitti, Dram, Drumma Boy, and Shawty Redd. He let’s the people know about a mixtape that surfaced with Mac Breezy while he was locked up and Dram let the people know that his main homie OJ Da Juiceman been really poppin off while he’s been locked up. The shirt that he’s wearing is one of the realist sayings: “If you are what you say, then have no fear” – that’s just straight dope right there. Drama is rocking some pretty nice ice too with his “Barack O’Drama chain.”

Since he’s been home, he’s been working on a brand new mixtape and tells everyone that he already has 23 songs since getting back home. There’s nobody that puts in more work than Gucci on new tracks. He says that the biggest songs at his performances are “Photo Shoot” and “I’m A Star.” The crowd always goes crazy and if you’ve been to a Gucci show before, you know how hard he goes and how riled up the fans get. The song “Show Me Something” can be found on the Gucci Mane mixtape entitled “Gangsta Grillz: The Movie” that he did with DJ Drama. The official mixtape version plays out at a total of 4 minutes and 14 seconds. Everyone that has been with Gucci from the start knows that he likes his women. In this song aimed at the ladies, he wants them to show him something. He says “show me somethin.” The instrumental is banging from start to finish and has a lot of quality lyrics from Radric Davis. This is definitely a standout track from the Gangsta Grillz mixtape.

You may also see the song be called “Show Me,” which is also what is listed on the tape. The instrumental of this track is very catchy and will get the attention of people that have never heard it. There are some drops from The Aphilliates as well as DJ Drama (some Gangsa Grizzle drops in the track). He talks about his women on this track, which features a solid chorus from Gucci in addition to some singing. The chorus goes as follows: “Bend ya back flip ya shoulders drop ya head bust it open if you love it like you say you love it baby girl show me somethin girl (show me some girl).”

It is easy to tell that this track appeals to all types of Gucci Mane fans, particularly the females. He talks about shopping for his girls and how he treats them very well. Many fans consider this to be among their favorite tracks by Gucci. There is such a variety of songs that he brings to the world of hip hop and rap music that it is very easy to enjoy all of his music. At the moment, there is not a version without DJ drops.

Gucci Mane – Show Me Something

Since there is not a “No DJ” version of this song or “CDQ,” it means that “Show Me Something” my forever remain a mixtape track. If you don’t know much about the mixtape process, an artist like Gucci Mane records a bunch of songs. After he is finished recording and decides what he wants to be featured on his tape, he finds a DJ (like Drama) and has him do “DJ drops.” By using “drops” it sets the material up to be used only for promotional purposes. Having a DJ also is good because if they are good (like DJ Drama), fans like their drops and are able to really experience a good mixtape.
